What you need:
Margarine (for greasing baking pan)
½ cup (1 stick) margarine
2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate
1 cup sugar
½ cup unsifted all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs, lightly beaten
½ cup or walnut pieces, raisins, or salted peanuts.
Then,
1. Preheat oven to 350 °. Grease a 9x9x2-inch baking pan with margarine.
2. Melt the margarine and chocolate in a large saucerpan over very low heat. Remove the saucepan from the heat.
3. Stir in the sugar, flour, baking powder, vanilla, and eggs and beat well with an eggbeater. Stir int he nuts.
4. Pour the batter into the baking pan. Bake for 30 minutes.
5. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a rack. When the brownies are cool, cut them into squares.
Makes about 16 brownies
